A bright future for children with cancer

The incredible teams at Evelina London Children’s Hospital care for children and young people facing life-threatening illness. Children like Molly, who came to Evelina London just before Christmas when she was only four weeks old. Born ten weeks premature, Molly developed a rare virus and sepsis. Her tiny lungs could no longer work on their own.

Evelina London teams used a temporary life support system called an ECMO machine. This incredible piece of equipment provided oxygen to Molly without using her lungs which had completely failed. With this equipment, combined with the team’s expertise, Molly was breathing by herself in just 12 days.

Every day, Evelina London’s expert teams save the lives of children like Molly. Now they’re building a specialist cancer centre to help children with cancer too.
