Molly’s Christmas miracle

Every day, amazing teams from across the hospital find new and innovative ways to save the lives of seriously ill children, like Molly.

Molly was only four weeks old when she was rushed to Evelina London Children’s Hospital just before Christmas. Born prematurely, she developed a rare virus and sepsis, and her tiny body couldn’t cope. The dedicated staff used a temporary life support system called an ECMO machine to provide oxygen to Molly without using her lungs, which had completely failed. Thanks to this incredible piece of equipment and the team’s expertise, Molly was breathing by herself in just 12 days.

Molly’s story shows the remarkable care that makes Evelina London so special. The new children’s cancer centre will bring that same life-changing care to children with cancer and their families. Read more about Molly’s story.

“If it wasn’t for the ECMO machine and the amazing team at Evelina London, Molly would not be here today. What Evelina London did for Molly and our family was nothing short of a miracle.”

Evelina London Children's Hospital

A bright future for children with cancer

Cancer is every parent’s worst fear. A diagnosis turns a family’s world upside down. Children endure long hospital stays and gruelling treatments, often isolated from their loved ones. For parents and family members, it’s a frightening and stressful time.

The new children’s cancer centre will provide outstanding care and support research to develop better, kinder treatments for young patients with cancer. Designed to feel like a home from home, it will have room for children to play and laugh, areas for teenagers to enjoy privacy and independence, and space for parents to stay close to their child throughout treatment.

Will you help Evelina London deliver specialist care to children with cancer?

Because of you, we’re helping Evelina London do amazing things – this Christmas and all year round.
