Transforming care at Evelina London

Help us make the Principal Treatment Centre at Evelina London a reality, providing specialist cancer care for children and young people with complex or rarer cancers.

Evelina London Children’s Hospital already provides compassionate and expert care to children and young people facing life-threatening illnesses. Now, they have the opportunity to do even more for children and young people with cancer.

Our ambition for children with cancer

A cancer diagnosis shatters the everyday life of a child and their family. Overnight, the ‘every day’ is lost, and the future becomes uncertain. Children endure long hospital stays and gruelling cancer treatments, often isolated from their family and friends. For parents and loved ones, it’s a frightening and stressful time.

When the Principal Treatment Centre opens, Evelina London will treat toddlers, children and young people with complex or rarer types of cancer from across south London and much of south east England. These patients may need more intensive treatments, which often means long stays in hospital.

The centre will be based across the existing Evelina London Children’s Hospital site, helping to provide streamlined care in one place for patients and their families. Children will have round-the-clock access to exceptional cancer and paediatric care when it matters most.

Working in partnership with Evelina London, it is our shared ambition to provide exceptional cancer care and support research that will lead to better treatments for some of the most unwell children in the region.

Bringing patients’ imagination to life

In a period of 16 months over 2025-26, the compassionate Evelina London team have spent more than 300 hours listening to children and families to understand what matters most when a child is receiving cancer treatment. Here’s how their feedback will make a difference at the Principle Treatment Centre:

Movable TVs with space for gaming consoles, helping young patients experience the comforting power of play.
Centralised nurse call points that are accessible from either side of the bed, making it easier for parents to call for assistance.
Access to kitchen facilities and individual food lockers so parents and carers can spend more time with their child.
Dedicated parking spaces that can be booked in advance, reducing the risk of infection on public transport.
