Creating a home from home at Evelina London

We support Evelina London Children’s Hospital to create a home from home for families, with bright rooms, engaging artwork, and comfy seats.

Evelina London has award-winning charity-funded artwork that is both functional and fun!

The hospital is designed for children, with each incredible space tailored to the unique needs of patients. This helps to ensure every child gets amazing care, every day.

Children and young people are often involved in the design process. For example, when developing the Children’s Day Surgery Unit, young people from across the region submitted their artwork as part of a competition. This collaborative effort, including the winning design of an astronaut school by 8-year-old Ella, ensures that the hospital is truly made by children, for children.

Bringing fun and comfort to care

Many Evelina London departments have a fun theme, so children can let their imaginations run wild! Some examples of these unique spaces include:

Children’s Day Surgery Unit: where expert astronauts guide patients and their families through their day of treatment.
Seal Clinical Research Facility: where children can be distracted from tests by pictures of seals swimming across the ceiling.
Sky Ward: where colourful lights bring the outside in by mirroring the rotation of the sun and the moon.
Snow Leopard Ward: where warm colours, illustrations of sleeping snow leopards and calming lights create a relaxing space for little patients at the sleep centre.

These thoughtful designs help to make a sometimes-scary hospital visit feel less daunting. It can also bring joy to both children and their families.

The playful designs at Evelina London have a powerful impact, and with your support, we’re making a real difference.

The artwork creates a calm, welcoming atmosphere for children and their families, making them feel cared for during their visit. It can also make it easier for families to connect with Evelina London’s expert teams, sparking conversations that bring comfort and understanding. This can help our amazing doctors and nurses perform procedures more efficiently. And the Play Team use the designs to unlock the power of play, allowing children to be children, even while they’re in hospital.
